CP — Carpentry
Built-in cupboards, roof work, doors and drywall partitioning.
Carpentry covers two quite different kinds of job: structural work like roofs and partitioning, and finishing work like cupboards and doors where the tolerance is a millimetre and the whole thing is judged on how it closes. We quote them separately because they are priced differently.
What the work covers
- Built-in cupboards, wardrobes and storage
- Kitchen carcassing and fitting
- Roof structure repairs and replacement of damaged timbers
- Re-roofing and roof sheeting
- Door hanging, frames, architraves and skirting
- Drywall partitioning, bulkheads and ceilings
Standards that apply
What the regulations require of this work. These describe the standard, not a claim about any particular contractor — ask any contractor, including us, to show you their registration.
Building work must comply with the National Building Regulations. Part L covers roofs, and structural alterations generally require approval from the local authority before work starts.
Roof structures must be designed to carry the imposed loads and be adequately anchored. Replacing a roof structure, as opposed to repairing it, usually requires plan approval.
